The Coastal Branch closed out an eventful and busy year. With 7 monthly meetings, 1 joint society meeting, new website activity, and new venue location and time, are some of the contributing factors to our successful year. The Coastal Branch continued to nurture the mentoring program with UNCW and support our scholarship fund. Please find the attached report summarizing our 2017 - 2018 Year-End-Report.
During our May 8, 2018 monthly board meeting, we voted on the new board members for this upcoming year. Introducing the new 2018-2019 members:
Justin Gibson, President Elect
Mark Arcuri, Vice President
Llyod Young, Secretary Treasure
Kate Eames, Board Representative
Brooke Bowden, Board Representative
Thanks goes out to all members in attendance for voting and to previous Board Representative Chad Eichelberger for his contributions to our chapter.
At the May 8th meeting we had the honor of inducting three new Life Members for ASCE. These folks have to be 65 years old, have been an ASCE member for at least 35 years, and have 10 consecutive years of Membership. The best part is that these members don't have to pay to attend the monthly meetings anymore (unless they want to contribute to the scholarship fund...). The newest Lifetime Members pictured with our current President are Bruce Marek, Jesse Jordan, Jack Kazmarski
The Mento'rs and Mentee's had an opportunity to meet one last time to enjoy an activity and give feedback about the program overall. This has been a great inaugural year and we are looking forward to next years program! Thank you to everyone that participated!!
On April1 10th we had the benefit of having two presentations. The first was from our Scholarship Recipient, Daniela Ivonne Garcia-Garcia. She gave a great presentation on why she wanted to be a civil engineer. That was then followed up by the presentation of a big check....
The second presentation was by Zack Duggan with BASF (pictured below). We greatly appreciate Zack taking the time to better inform us of the intricacies of concrete repair. Thanks Zack!
