Update 2019-01-11: Due to impending adverse weather conditions, this event will take place on the backup date on 2019-01-27 instead of 2019-01-13. All aspects of the event otherwise remain the same (location, starting times, parking, etc.). Judges are still needed.
The NC Future City Regional Competition will be held on January 13, 2019 in Raleigh. We are looking for judging volunteers from our local community.
This year's competition will be held at the McKimmon Center on Sunday, January 13, 2019. In the event of inclement weather, the competition will be held on Sunday, January 27, 2019. The McKimmon Center is located at 1101 Gorman Street, Raleigh, North Carolina 27606 (corner of Gorman Street and Western Blvd) and has been reserved for both of these dates.
Training sessions for the different components have been scheduled.
A. City Model & City Presentation Preliminary Training (Judging is done on Competition Day):
There are two days for City Model and City Presentation training:
Tuesday, January 8th, 6 - 7 P.M.
Wednesday, January 9th, 6 - 7 P.M.

B. The Specialty Awards (Judging is done on Competition Day):
Specialty Award training will be held just prior to the beginning of competition on Sunday, January 13, 2019 (with an inclement weather date of Sunday, January 27, 2019).
C. Virtual City Training (Judging is done Prior to Competition Day):
The Virtual City judges' training was held in December but information can be found in the Virtual City Rubric.
D. City Essay (Judging is done Prior to Competition Day):
City Essay judging is done according to the City Essay Rubric.

A light continental breakfast of fruit and pastries will be available from 8:00-8:45 AM and a catered lunch will be served from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM. The competition day time commitment is 4 hours and lasts from 9 AM to 12 PM.
During the afternoon, the top four teams from the morning competition will advance to the finals for judging from 1:00 PM to 3:30 PM. Our keynote speaker, NC Lt. Gov. Dan Forest, will speak on STEM education. In addition, specialty award winners will be announced.
