Please join us for our January Meeting. This will be a lunch meeting at Dilworth Neighborhood Grille on Wednesday, January 23, 2019 with registration/socialization beginning at 11:30 am.

Topic: ACI Code Compliance Presentation: “Speaking in Code”
Alan S. Tuck, Executive Director in Code Compliance at Froehling & Robertson Inc.
Alan Tuck has more than 50 years of experience in the materials testing and construction inspection industry. He started his career with F&R in 1964 as a materials technician and fulfilled many duties including senior field technician, radiographic assistant, drill rig operator, laboratory technician, and structural steel inspector, quickly being promoted to Branch Manager of the Roanoke office in 1966. Mr. Tuck has developed training courses related to special inspection requirements of the International Building Code (IBC) and the various Statewide Building Codes in jurisdictions where F&R maintained operations, including Maryland, Virginia, District of Columbia and the Carolinas. During his career as F&R operations manager, Alan developed hundreds of concrete mix designs and masonry mix designs all over Virginia. He has developed high performance concrete mix designs for numerous multi-story and high-profile projects including 10,000 psi concrete mixtures for high rise office and hotel projects in Hampton Roads, Virginia. He also produced concrete mixtures that attained 4,000 psi in six hours for use in subzero temperature concrete placements for dams in Ontario, Canada. Furthermore, Mr. Tuck has been a code influencer and the building code “go to” guy when architects, engineers, contractors and building officials across the Mid-Atlantic have special inspection questions about their ongoing projects. He enjoys these daily challenges almost as much as he does presenting all of the numerous building code presentations he has developed.
