New to North Carolina?

If you’re a Civil Engineer who just moved to North Carolina and would like to get involved with ASCE North Carolina, here are the steps to follow:

1) Become a member with ASCE National

ASCE North Carolina is a section of ASCE, the national organization.  Engineers who are registered with ASCE (National) with an address in North Carolina are automatically associated with the North Carolina Section.  So, to join ASCE North Carolina, join ASCE (National) at ASCE.org/join.

There is no additional fee to join ASCE North Carolina.  ASCE (National) allots a portion of your membership fee to ASCE North Carolina and to your local Branch.  Certain events hosted by ASCE North Carolina, or one of its branches, will likely have its own, separate fee.

2) Update your address with ASCE National.

In order to become associated with ASCE North Carolina, you need to update your address with ASCE National. Log in to your user account at ASCE.org and confirm your physical mailing address is within North Carolina, and preferably within your local county. The county associated with your mailing address determines to which Branch you belong.

3) Find to which ASCE North Carolina Branch you belong.

The North Carolina Section is divided into five Branches:  Coastal, Eastern, Northern, Southern, and Western. Use the “Find Your Branch” page to find the group closest to you.

4) (Optional) Sign up with your local branch and the Section.

By virtue of updating your address with ASCE National, ASCE North Carolina will update our mailing list. However, that process may take several weeks or months. So, you can visit your local Branch’s website and sign up manually by visiting the page listing the officers for that branch and sending an email. If you’d also like notifications for Section events, use the webform on the contact page to let us know and we’ll add you to the list.

5) Check your local Branch’s and the Section’s Calendar.

Visit the Section’s calendar of events as well as your local Branch’s calendar for events.

6) That’s it!

Welcome!
