YMG's Goals and Events for 2015
As the 2015 Coordinators for YMG, a major goal for us this year is to bolster attendance at our events and encourage active participation of our members. The YMG is aimed at young professionals under the age of 35 and membership is covered by your annual ASCE dues. Our strategy for 2015 is to hold quarterly events that will facilitate networking amongst our members. We also welcome you to forward on event announcements or extend a personal invitation to others who may be interested in becoming involved with ASCE. We hope that by fostering relationships among our peers, we will be able to grow our group and offer a wider variety of events to meet the needs of our members. We encourage members to send us feedback and suggestions about the events they would like to see our group hosting. Below is a tentative list of events currently being planned for 2015:
- March - Tailgate and Carolina Hurricanes Game (Probably a Saturday)
- April or May - Adopt-A-Stream Clean-up
- June or July - Dinner at Mellow Mushroom and Durham Bulls Game
- September - Student Welcome Back (Duke and NCSU students will be invited to bowl with the YMG, location to be determined)
- October - Adopt-A-Stream Clean-up
- December - Holiday Social / Toys-For-Tots Donation Drop-off
- The Eastern Branch and YMG are very fortunate to have two very active liaisons to the Duke and NCSU student chapters, Ethan Hill and Christine Nguyen, respectively. The student chapters are currently working on their concrete canoe and steel bridge competition entries and would greatly appreciate any time and advice that could be offered by Eastern Branch members.
