Date: April 13, 2024; Breakfast @ 9:00 AM, Cleanup @ 9:30 AM

Meeting Location: Lake Lynn Community Center (7921 Ray Rd, Raleigh, NC 27613)

What: Pick up trash while we walk along the ASCE YMG's adopted stream, Hare Snipe Creek, at the north side of Lake Lynn. Friends, family, and partners are all welcome to join as well - you do not need to be an ASCE member! All ages are welcome!

Free breakfast and coffee will be provided before the cleanup!  Breakfast will start at 9:00am, and we will begin to pick up trash around 9:30am. Duration will be ~2.0 hours.

Please wear appropriate clothing for walking through wooded areas and getting into a stream area. Long pants and closed toe shoes are highly recommended. Please plan to bring sunscreen and/or bug spray. The City of Raleigh will provide plastic gloves and trash bags, if you would like any additional protective gear, please bring it! Participants will be required to read and sign a waiver from the City of Raleigh.

P.S. we will be giving out brand new t-shirts to those who attend AND are members of the ASCE Younger Member Group.

What: We encourage everyone to arrive by 6:30 PM to socialize, enjoy some food, and fill out the waiver before the axe throwing festivities commence at 7:00 PM. Crazy Axe offers a safe and controlled environment for axe throwing, ensuring that everyone can have a great time while adhering to all necessary safety precautions.

What: The Eastern Branch YMG will host the board elections for the 2023-2024 year. This will be like our typical social events, but we will also order dinner! While we eat those who are running for positions will speak to the group regarding their qualifications and interests in joining the Board. If you have any questions, please email us. The deadline to express interest in running for the board is October 22nd. You do not need prior ASCE experience to run!

We are happy to announce that we have another volunteer event with the Food Bank of Central & Eastern North Carolina on Saturday, October 7th, 2023, from 9 am until 12 pm. We have 25 slots reserved for our group to organize foods and goods inside the warehouse, so feel free to invite your colleagues, friends, partners, etc! After the volunteer shift we will be walking next door to Mordecai Beverage Company to enjoy a well-earned drink and maybe some food. We have had really good success with this event in the past and it is a great way to socialize and help contribute to a great cause.

The ASCE YMG for the Eastern Branch is throwing a party to celebrate students coming back to campus and welcome recent grads into the professional world. It should also be a great opportunity for anyone new to the area to network and hangout with other engineers in the area. Please fill out the signup form above if you would like to participate. All volunteers will need to sign a waiver for the City of Raleigh here. Friends, family, and partners are all welcome to join as well and there are no age restrictions, though everyone who volunteers will need to sign their own wavier.

We will be providing breakfast and coffee for all volunteers! We also provide all the equipment you need, including gloves, trash grabbers, and garbage bags. We will meet near the picnic shelter behind the Community Center building, not in the parking lot, to organize and get refreshments.

We are excited to announce the return of the annual YMG Cans For Brews Food Drive! Our goal with this initiative is to collect food for the Food Bank of Eastern and Central North Carolina during their donation "off-season" of the summer months. This year, we are trying to exceed our past record of 850lbs of food, and we'll need your help to do it!

We will be collecting food throughout the month of August until Thursday, August 30th, when we will be wrapping up with an event at 5:30pm at Trophy Brewing and Taproom (656 Maywood Ave, Raleigh, NC 27603). More information is in the pdf attached to the email! If you won't be able to join us there to drop off your collections, please get in touch with me (my info is included in the packet). If you think your company would be interested in working with us to donate food, please sign-up here. We can't wait to see all of the food the chapter will be able to collect this year!

Join YMG for our upcoming Habitat for Humanity Build Day in Southeast Raleigh on Saturday, August 4th.

A light breakfast will be available, and lunch with be provided for all volunteers. Feel free to invite coworkers, friends, and family. We will be hosting this quarter's meeting on January 25th, at 630pm. to 8pm. We will be meeting at the Skanska Offices in Durham (4309 Emperor Blvd # 200 Durham, NC 27703). We will be planning out the events for the year, and reviewing some of the membership feedback. The meeting is open to all members and we will be providing Hors d'oeuvres for all attendees. We hope to see you there!

Each year, ASCE hosts a reception for the North Carolina Legislature to showcase civil engineering and infrastructure projects throughout the state. This unique event is a great chance to represent your company or school and the profession. This year's event is on May 10th in the evening from 6 - 7:30pm, with volunteers arriving between 5 - 6pm.  The event will be held in downtown Raleigh at the NC Museum of Natural Sciences. ASCE is looking for people to volunteer as greeters and hosts, and also to represent project(s) from their company / school (either a poster or tabletop display).
 
If you would like to meet and network with other engineers from all over the state, as well as our elected officials, this is a great opportunity. Those that are interested in the government aspects of civil engineering projects will want to consider being a part. If you are interested in attending or volunteering at this event, please complete the registration form.
