Topic: Cross Charlotte Trail

The City of Charlotte is partnering with Mecklenburg County to create a 26-mile trail and greenway facility that will stretch from the City of Pineville, through Center City and on to the UNC Charlotte campus and Cabarrus County line. This is the Cross Charlotte Trail (XCLT). Once completed, residents will be able to travel seamlessly from one end of Charlotte to the other. Approximately 98,000 jobs and 80,000 residents will be within a half mile of the proposed trail, which will connect to many treasured places and major employment centers.  Come hear from the XCLT Project Manager Joe Frey who will share the project vision, opportunities and challenged of this unique and transformative project!

Presenters:  

Mr. Joe Frey, PE (City of Charlotte Senior Project Manager)

Joe Frey is a licensed professional engineer with 20 years of experience working on a wide variety of infrastructure and environmental projects.  For the past 12 years Joe has been with the City of Charlotte Engineering and Property Management Department’s Urban Infrastructure group.  Joe is currently the City’s lead project manager on the ambitious and exciting 26-mile Cross Charlotte Trail project.  Joe graduated cum laude from the University at Buffalo in 1995, is a licensed professional engineer, and is working toward an MBA in Sustainable Development online through Marylhurst University in Portland, Oregon.

Mr. Gabe Dobbs, PE, STP (Kimley-Horn)

Gabe Dobbs is a licensed professional engineer with more than 6 years of experience working on various transportation and infrastructure projects in NC, SC, and GA. A key member of Kimley-Horn’s transportation practice, Gabe is highly involved with the City of Charlotte’s 26-mile Cross Charlotte Trail. He currently serves as lead transportation engineer of the various segments that Kimley-Horn is leading.  Gabe graduated from Clemson University with a Master’s in Transportation and a Bachelor’s in Civil Engineering.
